This is the most British thing ever.
Sir David Attenborough is the definition of a national treasure. And The Queen is, well, The Queen. While they might both be from very different fields, the idea of them teaming up just seems perfect.
The duo will come together for a one-off ITV documentary entitled The Queen’s Green Planet. Her Majesty has a little-known love of trees, and the film will be centered around a discussion of the subject, in the picturesque gardens of Buckingham Palace.
The official synopsis reads:
In a rare opportunity to see the Queen talking informally to Sir David, the conversation ranges from climate change, to conkers and birthday gifts. In the often humorous exchange, the Queen reveals her passion for nature and how the garden’s history is intertwined with that of her family, charting the lives of her children but also delving into the past of her great, great grandparents Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The film will also feature Prince Harry planting trees in the Caribbean, Prince William in Canada. Angelina Jolie is also in it, for some reason.
The Queen’s Green Planet will air on ITV1, Monday 16 April at 9pm.
