The show could be bigger and better than ever
Last year’s series of Love Island was one the most talked-about reality shows of the year.
Yes, after years of flying relatively under the radar, the show took off last year thanks to its stellar line-up.
Well, it seems like there’s a large group of people who want to be a part of this year’s line-up in the hopes of reaching the same success.
Huge numbers of applications have come in for this year’s show but we can’t quite believe how many.
Love Island bosses have revealed that they’ve received over 150,000 applications for the next series of the reality show.
It had previously been reported that 60,000 people signed up in the first 12 hours after applications opened alone, and that number has kept growing since then.
“Everyone wants to be in love,” returning host Caroline Flack says of the popularity of the show.
“Secondly, you get to be on holiday for nine weeks. Third, you get to get a good tan.
“And fourth, you get to have fun!”
With the huge number of applications pouring in, producers have been considering changing a few things to make this year’s series bigger and better than ever.
Rumours of the show’s stars entering the show to two villas rather than one have been circulating for months now, however, nothing has been confirmed.
