This brilliant new Netflix feature will make sure you’re never bored again

Can't choose what to watch? Let Netflix decide for you

Matt Tate

As the days draw in, the air gets nippier and those fun-hating rainclouds begin to rear their ugly heads a lot more often, those glorious, all-day Netflix binges in your pants become that little bit easier to justify.

Netflix is a veritable treasure trove of entertainment, but sometimes all that choice can be as much of a curse as it is a blessing – particularly when you’re nursing such a nasty hangover that even putting a pair of socks on feels like an assignment.

Do you push on with the explosive second season of Narcos, or prepare for Luke Cage by reacquainting yourself with Jessica Jones? Maybe you think Archer is taking your fancy, but then you remember you aren’t quite up to date with Bojack Horseman. Perhaps you load up Netflix regularly with the intention of making a start on The Get Down, but the allure of old-school Pokemon episodes is just too much to resist. We’ve all been there.

Thankfully, a very handy new Google Chrome extension has a solution to all of that endlessly indecisive browsing. The ‘random’ button attaches itself to the top of your screen and does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin.

Press the button and it’ll fetch a TV show, movie or documentary from Netflix’s vast library for your viewing pleasure. You’re almost guaranteed to get a stinker or two along the way, but that’s the fun of it.

Turns out people have been after this feature for a while.

Although this isn’t an official extension to the Netflix repertoire, it sounds as though users are already lapping it up.

Unleash your random side here. And remember – changing’s cheating.
