Turns out James Corden can’t always get what he wants.
James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke just keeps getting better and better. He’s had some of the biggest musicians joining him for a singsong on his commute to work. People like Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, J-Lo, Britney, Adele and bands like One Direction, Coldplay and The Red Hot Chili Peppers have all sat in the passenger seat of James’ car.
You’d think most bands would be lining up to take part. Well, it seems they’re not with the Rolling Stones turning down the viral segment because they think it will be “embarrassing”.
Corden was reportedly desperate to get them on board but they’ve turned him down, despite pressure from their record label to do it. Producer, Ben Winston, even said, “It is our dream. It would be amazing.”
But Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts have absolutely no interest in doing it with a source telling The Mirror:
“James and his team were keen to get them to sign up to sign up for the segment as part of the promo for their new album – but there’s no swaying them.
“The guys, particularly Keith, just weren’t up for doing it. They just felt it would be a bit embarrassing – the thought of singing along to Stones tracks in a car in front of the cameras was just too much for them.”
There’s still time for them to change their minds on the matter, but we’re not holding out too much hope.
