It’s been a long wait, but Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is finally upon us.
We were lucky enough to be able to blast our way through the game ahead of its release, so here are a few facts about it (and some slick gameplay footage) to bring you to tears with the anticipation of playing it tonight.
Nate’s back…
It’s been more than four years since we last saw Nathan Drake, so who knows what spectacular adventures he’s been on?
Naw, he’s actually just been living at home with his missus since the last game, chilling out and chowing down on some dinner. All that changes when his brother Sam, believed dead, comes crashing back into his life.
What kind of crazy, globe-trotting adventures will they embark on?
It’s as cinematic as ever…
Make no mistake, Uncharted 4 is all about the adventure.
Its strengths have always been in making you feel like Indiana Jones, and the set-pieces in this game are some of the best to date. One of the strongest franchises on Playstation is still creating those moments that make you go ‘wow’.
It’s still got the combat we’ve come to expect…
It’s loads of fun to jump from cover, punch a lad and steal his rifle. That will never not be fun.
The platforming is thrilling…
Jumping, shimmying, climbing, scrabbling. This series still has some of the best platforming ever done on a console.
The graphics are ridiculous…
No, honestly. They’re a joke, like.
Look at that clip and tell us you’ve seen a better rendered face on PS4.
No, no, go on. We’ll wait.
The whole thing looks fantastic, and what’s more, it just feels right. From the sound production to the character design, the atmosphere in each level is so immersive, you’ll never be distracted from the story.
It’s packed full of extras…
Uncharted 4 has loads of new snazzy add-ons to keep you playing, including character costumes (hint hint: tuxedos), a Photo Mode, and even trippy Instagram-style filters like these.
Online multiplayer is gas…
Uncharted’s multiplayer has a sense of fast, furious mayhem with the addition of new “Mysticals” – a set of unlockable supernatural perks. It carries the same jam-packed thrills as the campaign.
So strap yourself in and get ready to swing out of some vines and shit one last time. It’s amazing fun.
