BBC Three’s This Country is easily one of the greatest comedies to debut in recent years. Real-life brother and sister duo Daisy May and Charlie Cooper both write and star as Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe, two hapless twenty-something cousins stranded living in the Cotswolds. With little in the way of job opportunities, education or entertainment options provided to them in their small village, Kerry and Kurtan aimlessly stumble through a perfectly pitched rural purgatory, filled with scarecrow festivals, dubious relatives and GNVQs. It is a show instantly recognisable to anyone who grew up in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere.
After thirteen episodes, two series, one special, three Royal Television Awards and two BAFTAs, This Country returns to BBC Three for a third and final series in February. Kerry and Kurtan are back for the last time on the 17th of February, with weekly episodes available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
With This Country returning, we thought it was the perfect time to celebrate the wit and wisdom of the Mucklowes, who have dispensed multiple expressions of startling insight on love, life, and the human experience. Their acumen could match that of the great philosophers of the ages.
