It’s the final swan song in Hugh Jackman’s career as Wolverine…. and things are looking rather dark.
For months the folks at Fox have promised a superhero movie of a different kind in “Wolverine 3”.
Now dubbed “Logan”, both Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold were keen to stress that this would be the final chapter for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
After over a decade of films, hundreds of steaks and thousands of squats, he will be the mutant superhero no longer.
It comes boasting an R rating. Wolverine is older, more jaded, and ready to die.
Hold onto your hats. This trailer looks BLEAK.
VERY (very) loosely based off the infamous “Old Man Logan” comic book, Logan will be set sometime in the near future. Mutants are nearly all gone and Wolverine’s healing factor is on the blink – he can repair himself, but only just.
But when a near death Charles Xavier comes to Logan with one final mission, Wolverine will have to pop his claws one more time to protect a young mutant girl who has powers very similar to his.
With a cast including Stephen Merchant, Patrick Stewart and Boyd Holbrook, Logan is aiming to have Hugh Jackman leave the Wolverine role on a high.
Or a very very depressing low.
That trailer doesn’t fill us with the greatest confidence.
Logan is released in cinemas March 3, 2017.
