BAH GAWD!!!!
Wrestling is great, and it has always been great. But the time when it was greatest was officially what we now call ‘The Attitude Era’. That golden period, between about 1997 and 2000, when literally everyone in the world watched WWF.
It was when The Rock And Stone Cold became household names. It was when tag teams like The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boys and Edge & Christian put their bodies on the line in thrilling, death-defining contests. It was when Vince McMahon became one of the all-time great TV bad guys. It was where even lower-card comedy characters like Too Cool were over like crazy. It was when every iconic moment was accompanied by a screeching Jim Ross call.
Arguably, WWE is better now than it has ever been. The roster is full of incredible talent like AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens, and the ‘E are putting on quality matches every week. Not only that, brilliant female wrestlers like Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss being given equal standing to the men – a very much needed change from the late 90s, where the bra and panties match was the height of the Diva’s division.
Yet it is the Attitude Era that lives on. Dwayne Johnson is now the biggest movie star in the world, having successfully transplanted his in-ring charisma to the big screen. People still wear Stone Cold Steve Austin shirts all the time. Every other week, someone will put JR commentary on a clip from a recent sporting event, and it’ll go viral. There was something special about that era, something that captured the zeitgeist, and made it remain a treasured memory for the kids that grew up watching it.
So, with that in mind, here is a scientifically-accurate quiz to see which classic WWF Attitude Era star you most resemble.
