X Factor bosses have reportedly made a major u-turn on the brutal “big twist” they had originally planned for this weekend.
Host Dermot O’Leary announced during last Sunday’s live show that four acts would leave the competition this weekend.
But judge Simon Cowell is said to have stepped in to allow the public more time to vote for their favourite acts.
A source told The Sun:
“There is some great talent on the show this year.
“Simon thinks it’s unfair to cut the numbers so drastically when contestants are doing so well.”
“Talent this year is exceptional and with less weeks of live shows producers want to give them more time to shine and more time for the audiences to pick their favourites.”
A spokesperson for the ITV singing competition confirmed the news to the publication, adding:
“This weekend’s show will feature one act leaving on Saturday and one act leaving on Sunday.”
It comes as the song choices for this weekend were confirmed.
The show’s bosses have been moving away from the traditional weekly themes and trying out new one this series and we’re definitely not complaining.
The acts will tonight be honouring George Michael, who passed away on Christmas Day last year.
His stellar back catalogue means that while there’ll be no recent songs on the show, you’ll be able to sing along with most of what you hear.
