How’s your pull-up game? Think you’ve got what it takes to beat the world record?
Singaporean strongman Yeo Kim Yeong has just beaten the Guinness World Record for the most pull-ups in one minute.
The old record stood at 42 in 60 seconds – but Yeo Kim somehow managed to squeeze another two reps out within the time limit.
He trained for a whole year for the record attempt.
If you want to give it a go yourselves, Guinness World Record officials stipulate that for the rep to count “the body must remain straight throughout” – so no bending at the waist.
“The body must hang limply before attempting the first pull up and must be raised until the chin is raised above the level of the bar,” the rulebook states. “The body is then lowered until the arms are straight and locked out.”
So CrossFitters, no kipping or butterfly pull-ups. Strict, straight and full range of movement only. Just knock out another 44 and you’ve got yourself a world record.
We’d better get doing some serious work on our lats to even touch this record.
So far we’ve just about squeezed one out. Well, you’ve got to start somewhere.
