When you’re starting out at the gym, everyone talks about ‘putting on size’.
But if you’re one of life’s skinny guys (and we certainly are at JOE) then it can be an uphill climb even putting an extra pound or two on.
Hardgainers, as they’re called (because it’s so f***ing hard to gain any size) often turn to calorie-packed mass gainers to get those extra calories needed to get those muscles growing.
Well, fear not my fellow ectomorphs, if your wallet is as slim as your legs, you might not need to fork out piles of cash for expensive tubs of weight-gaining powder.
American bodybuilder Rich Piana has a proven DIY mass gainer recipe you can pick up the ingredients for in any supermarket.
He calls it “the best f***ing weight gain shake in the world”, and looking at the size of him, you wouldn’t argue.
As Piana says, it’s made from “real food”, so no “garbage”, “chemicals” or “s**t you can’t pronounce.”
All you will need is:
- Oatmeal (carbohydrates)
- Egg whites (protein)
- Peanut butter (fats)
- Bananas (carbohydrates)
Don’t go mad with 1000g of oats and 20 eggs though first, see how your body handles a less calorie-packed shake.
