A viral graphic shows the five ingredients that make up Nutella, but more than half of its overall content is sugar
Turns out, Nutella is not really made up of hazelnuts. In fact, it’s largely just sugar and palm oil. Like most things – food, my dreams.
Why anyone would believe what is, essentially, liquid chocolate is anything more than that escapes me. It tastes like pure sugar. But no colours, no articificial preservatives!! Here we are.
Look upon this disgusting breakdown from the consumer centre in Hamburg, Germany.
According to Nutella’s label, for every 37 grams of spread there are 21 grams of sugar. So that is literally more than half. Nutella’s other four ingredients are palm oil, cocoa, hazelnuts and skimmed milk powder.
Nutella’s producer, Ferrero, said: “One of Ferrero’s core nutritional beliefs is that small portion sizes help people to enjoy their favourite foods in moderation. The labelling on all our products enables consumers to make informed choices and helps ensure that Nutella can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.”
Yum!
