‘Just throw the whole world in the bin and be done. You’ve taken it too far’
Sainsbury’s has brought out a brand new food item as part of its £1 Easter snack range and shoppers are pretty much losing their minds over it.
Chocolate-flavoured houmous is the latest controversial item to hit the shelves at Sainos – and it even comes with carrots to dunk into its sweet-yet-savoury dip.
The vegan-friendly snackpot costs a grand total of £1. Alternatively, it can also be bought as a snack as part of the supermarket’s £3.50 meal deal.
The houmous is made from cooked chickpeas, golden syrup, sesame seed paste, cocoa powder and concentrated lemon juice (not exactly a combo you’d expect to see, but there you go).
Outraged customers have been quick to give the supermarket a piece of their mind on the matter though, as The Mirror reports.

A picture of the new snack was posted onto the Facebook page Snack News & Reviews, with shoppers rushing to give their thoughts on the new ‘Easter Bunny Snack’ item on social media.
One shoppers said they are in “utter disbelief” that the product is being stocked at all Sainsbury’s stores in their local area. “This is a huge change I’m not ready for,” they said.

Another described it as “absolutely vile”, adding “Just stop it. Immediately.”
“Just throw the whole world in the bin and be done,” one shopper said, “You’ve taken it too far.”
The houmous has, however, been welcomed by some shoppers – who described it as their “cuppa tea” and a product they “need to buy”.
All we can say is, to each their own…
