Bacon, burgers and other processed foods could be more likely to cause cancer than smoking, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Scientists from ten countries – including the UK – contributed to an upcoming WHO report which will rank processed meat as ‘carcinogenic to humans’ – the same rating as arsenic, cigarettes and alcohol.
The findings mean that we could soon see warning labels similar to the ones on cigarette packages placed on those of processed meat – which is any meat that has been made by smoking, curing, salting, or adding chemicals to it.
Looks like we’ll need to start stashing our bacon away in secret again.
