The Facebook “Message Requests” folder (previously the “Other” folder) is a complete disaster zone, but apparently it gets worse.
There’s another part of the “Message Requests” folder which is where your filtered messages go – the messages that contain, perhaps, some threatening language, or anything Facebook deems to be potentially nefarious, y’know… all the nice things you want in a message.
But it’s not all rubbish and spam in there – there could be important messages too.
On desktop, this is relatively easy to find, but it’s much more difficult on mobile, which is obviously how the majority of us use Facebook.
People have been checking their filtered messages and finding some weird stuff.
Here’s how you find it on desktop:
Not only are people finding unwanted messages, but they are also realising they’ve missed messages from old friends and distant family.
This Facebook screengrab is being shared on Reddit, Twitter and, weirdly, on Facebook. It shows how you can find your filtered messages on the Facebook Messenger app on mobile:
The filtered part of your “Message Requests” folder is also where all of your historic “Other” messages go, in case you wondered what happened to them.
Have fun finding all those modeling contracts, messages informing you that you’ve won the lottery in a country you’ve never even been to, and messages from distant admirers who suspiciously only have one Facebook photo and only have 15 friends.
