Fake Just Eat rider arrested after police find bag full of drugs instead of food

He was delivering the munchies – quite literally

A fake Just Eat rider was arrested by police this weekend as he cycled through east London, allegedly dropping off drugs rather than takeaways.

The rider was apprehended in Shoreditch on his way to his next drop-off after police were tipped off. His food bag allegedly contained numerous drug packages.

The Met’s Special Unit tweeted out this comical post on Sunday, quipping that the man was now “enjoying one of our fine en-suites”.

According to reports, the takeaway rider – thought to be just 17-year-old – was spotted riding along Great Eastern Street towards Shoreditch High Street, shortly before midnight on Saturday.

The teenager attempted to ride off but was detained by officers, who “noticed a strong smell of cannabis around him”.

After searching him, officers found a mobile phone, a significant amount of cash, and “information to suggest his involvement in drug dealing”.

The teenager was arrested for possession with intent to supply class B drugs and failing to stop for police.

Chief Inspector Chris Scammell praised his team, adding that “enquiries have confirmed that the boy arrested does not work for a food delivery service and we believe he was using this as a front to organise drug deals.”
