You don’t even have to look out of the window to know if it’s a windy day in Manchester.
The Beetham Tower is famous for making a peculiar whistling sound whenever it’s a bit bit breezy, and has become the stuff of legend around the city – it even have its own Twitter page.

As 80mph winds blasted through the city over the weekend, the strange droning noise returned and was heard from all corners of Manchester.

Said to be generated by strong winds meeting the building’s glass blade, Ian Simpson, the architect who designed it, was forced to apologise for the noise back in 2012.
