Love wins again
A bakery in Texas took a massive hit to sales after receiving a bombardment of hate over rainbow cookies in honour of Pride. However, they have since received enormous amounts of love and support, so much so that they have seen the most significant rise in cookie sales in 11 years.
Dawn Cooley and her sister Miranda had never made a pride-themed cookie before, but after a patron asked if they intended to, they obliged in a bid for inclusivity.

The cookies were then shared on their Facebook page, along with the caption “All lovers of cookies and happiness are welcome here.”
After the initial post, Cooley reports that people cancelled big orders, and a majority of their followers unliked the page on Facebook. Having just started to find their feet since the pandemic began, the adverse reaction was devastating to the duo.
Taking to Facebook once again, the business stated they had lots of cookies available from cancelled orders and that they hoped tomorrow would bring better news.
The following day, lines were around the block all day, with their entire stock selling out. To keep up with the demand, they even had to close entirely in order to make a bulk of cookies.

The widespread recognition has earned the sisters customers for life, and even celebs want in on the sweet action. Brian Cuban, brother of NBA owner Mark Cuban, bought $100 worth of cookies to donate to local charities.
Cooley was able to speak to CNN about her experience:
“It’s so easy to just concentrate on the negative sometimes,” she said. “When you see the same hurtful thing being said to you over and over again, it’s easy to doubt yourself. But I know it’s in my heart, and I know what my intentions are and were.”
If the confectionary store proved one thing, it is that support doesn’t have to be a big show or a series of merch; it could be as simple as some frosted cookies. They showed that despite the hate, they stuck to their ideals and did what was right.
