We don’t mean to alarm any users, but Tinder has been watching and has an opinion on you. Each and every one of you, in fact.
But it’s not as sinister as it sounds, as the company has been developing an algorithm which measures your “desirability” and not just attractiveness based on your profile photos.
It basically encompasses all aspects of your profile, beyond imagery, and tries to pair you with people of similar ranking.
Strangely enough, it relies on the “Elo” system, which is used to rate players in competitive chess – the end goal is to help match people even better on the giant social app.
This comes on the back of a recent Tinder survey, which demonstrated that more than 80% of users want more than just a one-night stand.
Tinder CEO Sean Rad has explained the work behind creating an improved Tinder experience for everyone, revealing that it took a lot of manpower to build such a complicated system.
“It’s not just how many people swipe right on you,” Rad explains.
“It’s very complicated. It took us two and a half months just to build the algorithm because a lot of factors go into it.”
We’ll be expecting a lot more matches in future.
