Running the social media of a popular brand can be hard work.
Nobody wants to just be spammed with promotional material for your company, so you’ve got to find a way to connect with people and trick them into wanting to buy your product.
In order to separate yourself from the crowd, you’ve got to think outside the box – just make sure that you don’t go too far.
KFC Australia failed to walk this line as they upset many potential customers with this strangely suggestive tweet.

In case you were wondering if that is a fake, KFC confirmed that it was a ‘genuine tweet to launch KFC’s new Hot & Spicy chicken products next week.’ before adding that ‘it was not intended to offend and we’ve removed the image’.
While we’re sure it was meant to be taken in good humour, many online believed the ad to be misogynistic – while others just didn’t want to associate handjobs with the company’s promise of a finger-licking good time.
I wish 1) I wasn't vegetarian and 2) I didn't insist on eating real food, so I could boycott @KFCAustralia for promoting misogyny.

In the end, KFC were forced to take down the misguided promotion and apologise…
We are very sorry for our earlier tweet on H&S – we didn’t mean to offend and removed it when we realised we’d made an error in judgment.
