Students fed up with being held up behind slow-walkers glued to their phones will be pleased, if a little bemused, by the actions of one university.
Utah Valley University, in the United States, has introduced separate lanes on staircases in one student building – one lane for walking, a second for running and the third for texting.
It is unclear how strictly the rules will be enforced, and it is still unclear whether the texting lane will extend to the use of Twitter and WhatsApp.
Students seem pleased with the development, with calls to extend the setup across the entire university, though outsiders aren’t convinced yet.
