VIDEO: Here’s why you should never shave your pubic hair

No more manscaping

JOE

Hair removal in the pubic region has become more and more common in recent years.

While we’ve all engaged in a spot of manscaping every now and again, the good people over at ASAPscience have released a new video claiming that going au naturel is the best option scientifically.

The video explains that humans lost body hair, minus the pubes and armpit hair, about 70,000 to 120,000 years after the Ice Age, with pubic hair remaining for a variety of reasons.

Firstly they claim that the hair prevents friction during sex, which has a variety of benefits. Secondly, your hair down there exists as “visual signal to potential partners that one is ready to mate”.

But perhaps most importantly, the video then goes on to explain that the removal of pubic hair correlates with the rise of gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HPV.

This is because the removal of hair causes itching, rashes and ingrown hair. Irritation combined with the moist environment can also grow bacteria that causes infections.
