The University of Warwick have announced 20 scholarships for refugees seeking a place at university.
The scholarships will be divided into ten for this academic year, and ten for the next and will be for students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
In this year’s university rankings tables, the University of Warwick was rated 6th in the UK by The Times and The Sunday Times and 48th in the world in the QS annual World University Rankings.
In a joint statement accompanying the announcement, Provost Professor Stuart Croft and Vice-Chancellor Sir Nigel Thrift said: ‘We strongly believe that we as a university community have an inherent responsibility to try to shape a more accepting society, and we must never neglect that responsibility. We will work unstintingly to support those who need a welcoming hand in this very difficult time.’
