For those of you who thought 100 just wasn’t enough…
WhatsApp have changed the limit on the number of people allowed in group chats on their app.
Although previously restricted to 100, WhatsApp have now increased that number to 256 – which computer-savvy readers will recognise as the amount of different possible values of one byte of digital information.
It’s not clear why WhatsApp made the change from the original 100, because let’s face it, if you’re in a group chat that has more than 100 people, you’re probably going to leave said group fairly sharpish anyway.
WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, last month abandoned their subscription fee for using the app after the first year in favour of a free service.
Although, many of you will have noticed that the fee was never enforced in the first place with extensions on the free service being offered to users.
The popular app recently hit the 1 billion monthly users mark so it’s pretty clear that whatever their doing is working, so who are we to question them?
