The internet went whipped itself into a frenzy of excitement earlier this week when Justin Timberlake released his first new song in three years.
Taken from the soundtrack to the upcoming animated movie Trolls, ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ is about as surefire a summer smash as you can get. JT made extra sure the song caught everyone’s attention – it was released on a day that also saw brand new James Blake and Skepta albums launch – by littering the video with celebrity cameos.
We have the song, and it looks like we’ll soon be getting an album from the legendary pop star, too. According to a report in Rolling Stone Timberlake told Carson Daly’s radio show: “I don’t know exactly when I’m going to put it out but yeah, I’m definitely working on a new album.”
He also revealed in the same interview that the new material would be influenced by his musical upbringing in the US. “I think where I grew up in America has a lot of influence,” he said. “Growing up in Tennessee — very central of the country — Memphis is known as the birthplace of rock and roll, but also the home of the blues, but Nashville’s right down the street so there’s a lot of country music.”
The last Justin Timberlake album, ‘The 20/20 Experience’, was released in 2013 and featured singles ‘Suit & Tie’ as well as the brilliant ‘Mirrors’.
