Countdown to NOW 100 begins as NOW 99 is released

Will Lavin

Talk about a monumental moment in music.

The countdown to the one of the UK’s biggest celebrations in pop music has begun, the release of NOW 100 is just four months away!

Following this week’s release of NOW 99, this summer will see the arrival of the monumental NOW 100. Undoubtedly the biggest music brand in the world, and the creators of the UK’s pop music soundtrack for the past 35 years, NOW Music has come a long way since its first volume back in November of 1983 (the year I was born!).

Now That’s What I Call Music 1 featured 28 artists and sold 1.1 million copies in 1983. Since then the brand has gone on to become one of the nation’s favourite music brands. With over 1978 artists appearing on 99 volumes with 120 million sales, every British home owns, on average, over four NOW albums.

This week’s NOW 99 is on course to become a chart topper like so many other NOW albums before it.

Featuring 45 of the year’s biggest hits, including “These Days” by Rudimental, Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen, Dua Lipa’s “IDGAF”, Taylor Swift’s “Ready For It” and Stormzy’s “Blinded By Your Grace Pt.2” with MNEK, one of the best things about it is the inclusion of a lot of British talent, something Steve Pritchard, Co-Managing Director of NOW Music is very proud of:

What’s incredibly gratifying about NOW 99 is the amount of new, especially British, talent getting a platform. In much the same way as their brilliance at this year’s BRITs arguably took the likes of Stormzy and Dua Lipa to another level in their careers, inclusion in a NOW album can herald a catchy song becoming a classic, or an artist joining the pantheon of British pop music history: and the inclusion of artists such as Tom Walker and Mabel, who even has two tracks on this NOW 99 album is an extremely welcome sign that they’re about to take the next step.”

Next up NOW 100, release date July 20th, one of the biggest music events of 2018.
