DaBaby’s career is taking a nap
Rapper DaBaby had appeared at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami when he made overtly homophobic comments. When asking partiers to raise their phone in the air, he added that people shouldn’t do it if they were HIV-positive or gay men who had had sex with another man in a car park.

Speaking to the crowd, he said: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone light in the air.
“Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put your cellphone light in the air. Fellas, if you ain’t suck a n****’s d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lights in the air. Keep it f*****g real.”
The rapper has since faced immense criticism from music behemoths like Elton John, Madonna, and Dua Lipa.
“We must break down the stigma around HIV and not spread it. As musicians, it’s our job to bring people together,” said Sir Elton John, who has fought for the cause throughout his career.

Dua Lipa also commented: “I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments. I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with.
“I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS,” Dua Lipa said, also removing her collab with him from Apple Music.
Parklife has also seemingly dropped the rapper following his comments. Having previously been slated to appear alongside, Dave, Megan Thee Stallion and Skepta, DaBaby’s name has now been wiped from the poster.

Clothing retailer Boohoo has also axed their contact with the performer.

“BoohooMAN condemn the use of homophobic language and confirm we will no longer be working with DaBaby.
“Diversity and inclusion are part of the boohoo Groups DNA and we pride ourselves on representing the diverse customers we serve across the globe.
“We stand by and support the LGBTQ+ community, and do not tolerate any hate speech or discrimination in any form.”
In a last-minute scramble to regain some credibility, the rapper has attempted to apologise on Twitter:
