More controversy from Kamikaze
Since Eminem’s latest album dropped at the end of August the 45-year-old has barely been out of the news, with his feud with Machine Gun Kelly continuing to make headline after headline.
But while Kamikaze has been a commercial and online success – recent single “Killshot” hit a record 38.1 million views on YouTube in the first 24 hours of its release – the critical reception has been mixed.
Stereo Gum, for instance, said of the album “the good news is that it’s easily the best Eminem album in more than a decade, the bad news is that it still sucks” and Rolling Stone described it as “a boot camp of knotty, joyless, lumbering ragers”. Killer lines to be fair.
But now Eminem has hit back at the #haters via an advertisement in the Hollywood Reporter, a publication which itself described the LP as “the work of an ageing artist trying, and failing, to remain relevant”.
The ad uses the sleeve artwork as the background illustration and reads: “NOT FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION! Thanks for the support assholes!”. The album’s sales figures are also featured prominently.

It’s not the only controversy Em has seen around the album. Over the weekend it was reported that P-Diddy had offered a response to Eminem’s claims on “Killshot” he was responsible for the death of Tupac Shakur. On the track, Em raps: “The day you put out a hit, is the day Diddy admits he put the hit out that got ‘Pac killed.”
Joe Budden shared Diddy’s thoughts on the lyrics, saying: “Nothing to speculate about, nothing to talk about. Puff said it’s in his hands, and he said, I can say it… he wild.”
