“There you go again with your first world problems”
It’s been a long time coming but Ian Brown is finally back.
The Stone Roses frontman has today released the video for his new single, “First World Problems”.
Directed by Ian himself, it’s a nod to his iconic “F.E.A.R” video. It sees him cycling by a canal on a sunny day until he hops off his lowrider bike, equips himself with a guitar and starts playing an impromptu performance of the song to an audience of just one… himself.
Shot in Dunham Massey, Stretford and Cornbrook, Ian later adds some percussion, as well as a bit of singing, grabbing a mic hanging off the side of a bridge, until the video’s climax when he proceeds to throw his guitar into the canal – very rock and roll!
According to the song’s press release:
“‘First World Problems’ is Ian Brown’s first solo material in nine years. The single, which is out now, precedes the new album, Ripples, which is released March 1st 2019. Ian produced the album and wrote the majority of the tracks, with him also playing a multitude of instruments. The LP also includes three songs co-written with his sons, plus covers of Barrington Levy’s ‘Black Roses’ and ‘Break Down The Walls’ by Mikey Dread.”
