The fire is now under control
The London Fire Brigade confirmed that 58 firefighters and officers, and eight engines were called to a fire at a flat in East London on Friday lunchtime.
Smoke was seen billowing from the building on Wellington Way, in Mile End.
The Fire Brigade later said that fire was under control by 2pm.
The London Ambulance Service said in a statement:
“We were called a 12:36pm today to Wellington Way, Mile End to reports of a fire.
“We sent an incident response officer and an ambulance crew to the scene. We also dispatched our hazardous area response team (HART).
“We assessed three people at the scene but did not take them to hospital.”
Emergency services were first called at around 12.30pm on Friday, and crews from Bethnal Green, Shadwell, Stratford and Whitechapel are at the scene.

At present, LFB says the cause of the fire is unknown.
