Prince Philip’s death has seen BBC One clear its schedule for the day
BBC One have suspended all non-news programming for the remainder of Friday following the announcement of Prince Philip’s death.
The Duke of Edinburgh passed away aged 99 at Windsor Castle on Friday morning, a statement from Buckingham Palace announced shortly after midday.
BBC interrupted programming to announce the news shortly after it was released by the Palace and are not expected to return to the normal schedule until after Friday on BBC One.

Other reports have claimed ITV have cleared their channel schedule until 6pm, but this could also be extended until later in the evening.
The BBC are expected to broadcast special programmes about the late Prince for the rest of the day. Amongst the programmes which are to be suspended is the MasterChef final.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the statement from Buckingham Palace read earlier in the day.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
Philip had long been suffering from a number of health concerns, including a recent heart surgery from which he had only just recovered.
