Armed police detained the man in central London this morning
Armed police have arrested a man claiming to have a bomb on the tracks at Charing Cross station this morning, in central London.
The 38-year-old was detained under the Mental Health Act and no weapon was found.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

British Transport Police were called to Charing Cross Underground station at 6.35am today after receiving reports of a man on the tracks claiming to have a bomb.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police and British Transport Police specialist firearms officers also attended. The underground station was evacuated as a precautionary measure and a cordon was put in place whilst officers dealt with the incident.

A 38-year old man was detained by officers and has been held under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act and taken to a place of safety.

Scotland Yard said they assisted the British Transport Police following a report of a man “acting suspiciously,” and that the station was evacuated as a precaution.
The northern line was re-opened at around 8.30am, and it is understood the station’s overground was largely unaffected and remains open.
