The Inter Milan midfielder collapsed in the first half.
Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has collapsed during his Denmark side’s opening Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen.
The game was at 0-0 when Eriksen was jogging down the side of the pitch after the ball had gone out for a throw in. Distressing footage shows Eriksen then stumbling and falling to the turf, before the players on the pitch desperately call the medical team on.
The footage shows Eriksen shaking and trembling on the ground.
Footage from the BBC’s coverage appeared to then show the medical staff at the game giving him CPR and attempting to resuscitate Eriksen.
At the time of writing, he was still being treated and had been receiving CPR for several minutes.
His Denmark team mates formed a circle around him to protect the distressing scenes from the eyes of the crowd and the television cameras. Many of his team mates and those in the crowd were visibly upset and in tears.
Denmark captain Simon Kjaer and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel were consoling a woman thought to be Eriksen’s wife on the side of the pitch.
The Finland players left the pitch and the game was postponed.

The BBC has stopped its coverage of the game.
UEFA have since provided an update on the situation, tweeting: “Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET. The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.”
