Egg Boy to donate crowdfunded money to Christchurch shooting victims after egging Fraser Anning

Will Connolly had himself been donated over £25,000 after egging Australian senator Fraser Anning

A teenager who earned praise worldwide for egging politician Fraser Anning over his Islamaphobic comments following the Christchurch terror attack will donate thousands of pounds to victims of the massacre.

After posting a far-right manifesto online, Brenton Tarrant filmed himself killing 50 people and injuring dozens more in two mosques on Friday. In response, Anning earned widespread condemnation for blaming the terror attack on Muslims.

That prompted Will Connolly, 17, to slap an egg on the senator’s head during a television interview. Anning turned around and punched the teenager twice in the face as he was wrestled to the ground and arrested. He has since been released without charge, pending further investigation.

A GoFundMe page was set up, dubbing Connolly “Egg Boi”, to raise money for legal fees and “more eggs”. The supporter who began the fundraiser was then contacted by Egg Boy himself, who vowed to donate most of the money to victims of the Christchurch terror attack.

With a goal of $50,000 (£26,000), backers had almost met the target at time of writing with one man sending in $1,000 among a number of $500 donations.

Senator for Queensland as an independent, Anning had said after the shootings: “The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration programme which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place.

“Let us be clear, whilst Muslims may have been the victims today, usually they are the perpetrators. Worldwide, Muslims are killing people in the name of their faith on an industrial scale.”

In response, Australian prime minister Scott Morrison, stated his hopes that Anning would be charged for retaliating violently, saying: “The full force of the law should be applied to Sen. Anning.”
