Graham Taylor, the former England manager, has died aged 72.
News of his death was confirmed by a family statement on Thursday afternoon.
“With the greatest sadness, we have to announce that Graham passed away at his home early this morning of a suspected heart attack.
“The family are devastated by this sudden and totally unexpected loss.”
As a player, Taylor represented Grimsby and then Lincoln City – a club at which he later started in managerial career in 1972.
After Lincoln he moved on to manage Watford and then Aston Villa, before being appointed as manager of the national team between 1990 and 1993. After that, he continued his managerial career at Wolverhampton Wanderers before returning to formers clubs Watford and Aston Villa.
