He now shares TikToks of his life with half a hand
A man miraculously survived being hit by a train after he fell on the tracks, in an accident that has left him with half a hand.
Jonathon Smith fell onto a train track in Ohio last year, with his hand being crushed by a passing freight train.
The cow pusher on the train managed to push his body off the tracks though meaning that he survived.
After the accident he had to have the lower half of his leg amputated, along with his middle, ring and little finger on his right hand.
The 26-year-old from Michigan had travelled with friends to Cleveland last May for the NFL Draft and to watch some baseball.
On the third day of their holiday, they went to a casino and were drinking. However, Jonathon ended up “getting too drunk” and ran away from his mates.
He had tripped over a railway line and was knocked unconscious in an impact that cracked his skull.
Soon after, a freight train approached.
The driver hit the brakes when he saw Jonathon but the train “had a hundred cars on the back and it didn’t stop in time.”
Jonathon was lying on the tracks with his knees facing up, and the cow pusher on the front of the train meant he was pushed out of the way.
It is because of his position on the tracks that he is still alive today.
However, his shoulder got caught on the tracks, leaving his hand to be crushed.
Although Jonathon miraculously survived being hit by the train, his hand was crushed (SWNS)The train conductor then jumped out the train and wrapped Jonathon’s arms and legs in tourniquets before calling for an ambulance.
The train had caved in both his shins, with his knees broken.
He was placed in a medically induced coma for 15 days, during which time doctors had to amputate half of his right hand.
Jonathon’s little, ring and middle fingers all had to be amputated (SWNS)He ended up having his lower right leg amputated as well.
He now shares videos on TikTok (@yonniemyth) of how he goes about his everyday life with his unique hand, sharing clips of how he can still move the muscles that used to control his other fingers, and demonstrating how he can still play video games.

He compares the sensation of moving the muscles that used to control his amputated fingers to the tightness you feel when you spread out your hand.
He said: “I can feel that but five times as tight, you don’t get the movement.
“With these two fingers they said I could do 85% of things once I could start doing stuff again, and they didn’t lie .
“I can open drinks, a lot of people were shocked I can play video games!
“The only thing I can’t do is carry extra stuff when my hands are full.”
Jonathon has since saved up $4,000 for a mechanical hand that will allow him to play golf again.
