Another terrifying incident on the streets of the capital
A man has been stabbed to death in broad daylight in north London this evening, becoming the 67th person to be killed in the capital this year and the 42nd victim of a fatal stabbing.
Emergency services were called at around 6.30pm after a man was attacked on Upper Street, Islington, however, police and paramedics were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local business owner Gregory Barry said he saw the incident via his CCTV camera.
He told Press Association: “There were two blokes in a van, it pulled up on the street.
“It looked like there was an altercation and the fight carried on outside the van.”
At least a dozen police officers were called to the incident, with forensic officers scanning the scene of the stabbing and the road cordoned off.
Nearby St Mary’s Church has been opened for food and shelter overnight for residents unable to return home.
