They have released an emotional statement calling for justice
Mariam Moustafa’s family have released an emotional statement demanding answers to 26 questions.
In a Facebook post Amr ElHariry, Mariam’s uncle, said the 18-year-old was the family’s “precious baby” and that she now has a place “in the hearts of millions of people across the globe” but that many questions remain unanswered.
The Egyptian-Italian dual national was attacked by a gang of six women outside a shopping centre in Nottingham city centre. After punching, stamping on and dragging Mariam for 20 metres, the women chased her onto the No 27 bus before a man confronted the assailants.
Writing in English to “communicate with the whole world” the Moustafa family statement demanded answers to 26 questions.
Nottinghamshire police have said that their investigation is progressing well and they are not treating Mariam’s death as a hate crime.
Anyone with any information about the assault is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 335 of February 21.
Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
