A 16-year-old boy was rescued from a river in Nottingham on Wednesday afternoon
A 16-year-old boy has died after being rescued from a Nottingham river.
As local temperatures topped out at 27C, paramedics were called to reports of a teenager entering the water in Colwick park.
Fire and ambulance crews, a dive team helicopter and police helicopter found the teenager’s body after an hour long search on Wednesday July 4. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Queen’s Medical Centre, just after 4pm.

In a statement, Nottinghamshire Police said: “A 16-year-old boy has died following reports that he’d gone into the water off River Road in Colwick but not resurfaced at around 2.05pm today.
“He was found more than an hour later, at around 3.20pm, following a major search operation.
“He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but sadly pronounced dead just after 4pm.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
A spokesman for East Midlands Ambulance service said: “We received a call at 2.08pm to an incident at Colwick Park, Nottingham.
“The caller reported a patient who was drowning. We sent a paramedic in a fast response car, a double crewed ambulance, our Hazardous Area Response Team and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
“We worked closely on scene with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and Nottinghamshire Police to locate and extract the patient from the water.
“One patient was taken to Queens Medical Centre for further care.”
