The Duke of Edinburgh’s death was confirmed on Friday
The Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip is expected to have a royal ceremonial funeral following the announcement of his death on Friday aged 99.
His insistence that he ‘did not want a fuss’ means he will not lie in state and is unlikely to be given a state funeral.
While exact details are yet to be made clear due to the Covid restrictions in place, a service is expected to take place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
A brief statement on behalf of the Royal Family confirmed the news of Prince Philip’s passing shortly after midday on Friday.

Senior members of the Royal Family had been informed of the news prior to the announcement being made to the public.
The Queen will now sign off on the precise details of the funeral plans and, according to some reports, is expected to broadcast a televised message within the next few days, depending on how she feels. She will also announce a period of mourning.
