Queen advised by royal doctors to stop drinking every day

Lizzie is no longer on the lash!

Queen Elizabeth II, who celebrates her Platinum Jubilee next June, has been urged by doctors to give up her evening cocktail.

Despite the Queen apparently throwing them back at lunch and dinner for decades, doctors are now urging her to slow down as she approaches a particularly busy season in her calendar, reports Vanity Fair.

“The Queen has been told to give up her evening drink which is usually a martini,” says a palace insider. “It’s not really a big deal for her, she is not a big drinker but it seems a trifle unfair that at this stage in her life she’s having to give up one of very few pleasures.”

It seems rather confusing that drinking is one of the “very few pleasures” that the woman who lives in a palace and has countless hats indulges in.

But doctors have urged the monarch to chill out a little ahead of a busy Autumn schedule and her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

‘Get Lit Lizzie’ is known for indulging in booze from lunch onwards. Though the exact cocktails are debated heavily, drinks that continually pop up include champagne, gin, and wine. Vanity Fair reports that she also enjoys a glass before bed, which would certainly save the tax-payer from buying Queenie sleeping pills.

“The alcohol has gone, her doctors want to make sure she is as fit and healthy as possible,” a second source tells the magazine.

The Platinum Jubilee will involve a four-day Bank Holiday weekend, which is great news for all of us.

Celebrations will include Trooping the Colour, a service of Thanksgiving and a pageant with 5,000 performances. There will also be a live gig at Buckingham Palace, called the Platinum Party – but we can’t imagine any top 40 artists will be performing.

After touring the UK, her Majesty will then tour the commonwealth where we’re sure she will ‘sample’ their best wines and cocktails.
