The culprits have been identified by investigators
Two more explosions have been reported in Sri Lanka, after over 130 people were killed in six separate blasts earlier on Sunday.
Churches and hotels across the country were targeted in the six initial explosions, which were believed to have happened simultaneously.
Following this, a seventh blast has reportedly hit a hotel opposite Dehiwala Zoo in Colombo with an eighth explosion taking place soon after in the capital city’s Dematagoda district.
A 12-hour curfew has been imposed by Sri Lankan authorities. Though this was due to start at 6pm, it has been brought forward to begin with immediate effect.
Reuters also report that access to social media and messaging services has been shut down across the country.
State minister of defence, Ruwan Wijewardene, has confirmed the explosions as terrorism, adding that the culprits have been identified by investigators.
“We have taken all the necessary precautions to keep this country safe and the people safe,” he said.
“We believe that all the culprits who have been involved in this unfortunate terrorist incident will be taken into custody as soon as possible.
“They have been identified, and they will be taken into custody as soon as possible.”

Some reports claim the death toll is now as high as 180. With over 500 injured from the original six blasts – some seriously – this figure may yet increase.
