He’s saved America once already. Can he do it again?
Academy Award-nominee, Golden Globe-winner and one-time Canada-bound fugitive Randy Quaid plans to oppose America’s political sweetheart Bernie Sanders for his Senate seat next year.
In a now-deleted tweet, Quaid stated that “Some very powerful people representing a super pac have approached me about running against Bernie Sanders for senator. 100%”
If you’re curious as to what Quaid’s political leanings might be, they’re definitely more in line with the current President’s than anyone else’s…

The actor, who you might remember as the guy who flew the jet into the alien ship’s blue anus gun in Independence Day, or as Chevy Chase’s distant relative in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, or as the homophobic land-owner in Brokeback Mountain, may have more than just the election in mind, though.
According to Deadline, there is a documentary/sit-com in the works by an American production company who want to follow Quaid, and his wife Evi, as he takes on Bernie Sanders for the senate seat.
A few years back, Quaid and his wife went on the lam to Canada, in order to dodge a 2010 case involving breaking into and vandalising their former home in California. They were then stopped at the Canadian/American border trying to flee back into America, but after some issues with passports and the legalities of the situation, the couple now apparently live in Vermont.
And if you think any of that might be enough to stop a political career in its tracks, then you haven’t been paying enough attention to the news lately…
