Timmy Matley of the Overtones has passed away, aged 36.
His fellow band members, Mark Franks, Mike Crawshaw, Darren Everest and Lachie Chapman announced the news today via Twitter with a short and sad statement.
It read:”It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away. We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us. We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x”.
The Cork native was diagnosed with skin cancer, more specifically a stage three malignant melanoma in 2016, but the exact cause of his death had not been commented on at the time of writing.

Tim had been due to take part in a charity skydive for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity this coming May and in recent months, he had been fundraising for the hospital where he received his treatment.
The Overtones came together in 2010 and went on to achieve four top ten albums in the UK.
They performed a number of gigs in 2016 which Tim had to pull out of following his cancer diagnosis. According to reports, he was due to reunite with the band later this year.
