The official release date is March 15

One of the most high-profile documentaries Netflix has ever produced is set to be available tomorrow and, ahead of the release, a new trailer has been shown of The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The documentary series promises to take a “detailed look” at what exactly went on in May 2007 when the three-year-old went missing from the bedroom of her family’s holiday apartment in the Algarve, Portugal.

In the trailer, snippets of quotes detail the case as “the worst things a human being could see” and “statistically likely to be [committed by] someone with close proximity to the child” while one person notes that “one shocking element was the sheer number of sexual predators in the area at the time”.

It sets up the documentary as a must watch for anyone who’s followed the investigation. Police were given another £150,000 to continue their investigations in November with Operation Grange so far costing around £12 million.

Due for release on March 15, watch the official trailer below.

The eight-part documentary is produced by London studio Pulse Films and has been criticised by Madeleine McCann’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann. Their spokesperson told The Guardian: “Kate and Gerry didn’t ask for it and don’t see how it will help the search for Maddie on a practical level, so they chose not to engage.”
