The paedophile brothers have been sentenced to more than 33 years, collectively
Paedophile brothers who committed a catalogue of sexual assaults and rapes against children over a period of more than two decades have been sentenced to over 33 years in prison.
Andrew Clark, 38, and younger brother Jason, 35, targeted minors over a 25 year period, with the offending starting in the late 1990s.
Nottingham Crown Court heard the pair were only kids themselves when they preyed on six vulnerable children, while eldest brother Andrew carried on the offences into adulthood.
The brothers both denied ever assaulting any children but were found guilty on Tuesday. They were also convicted of jointly raping a child under 16 on two occasions.
Andrew was found guilty of three counts of rape of a child under 16, rape of a child, and indecent assault of a child in September last year. He was also convicted of attempted rape, sexual assault of a child under 13, sexual assault of a child, three counts of indecent assault of a child under 14, and indecent assault of a male on five different occasions.
Jason – a dad of seven – was convicted on four counts of indecent assault of a child under 14 and two counts of rape on a child under 16.
He was given received a 10-year prison sentence while his brother was jailed for 23-and-a-half-years. Both have been listed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Detective Constable Ruth Statham of Nottinghamshire Police applauded the “bravery” of the victims and the witnesses for coming forward, saying: “They have all acted selflessly to protect other people and it is due to their actions and bravery that we were able to bring Jason and Andrew to justice.
“I hope this case also sends out a strong message to everyone that even though some of the allegations were of age we will always do everything we can to investigate and bring offenders to justice no matter how much time has passed.
“I can only hope that their convictions and sentence today will help bring a little peace and closure to their victims.”
