The footage has been compared to the iconic image of a man standing in front of tanks in Tiananmen Square
Shocking footage shared on social media appears to show the moment a man attempts to stop a convoy of Russian tanks from approaching Ukraine – by standing in front of them.
The 30-second clip shared by a Ukrainian news outlet named HB is quite blurry and hard to make out – but look closely and you’ll be able to spot what looks like a man standing in front of a convoy of multiple Russian tanks, forcing them to swerve out of his way.
While the footage was only posted yesterday, it’s since spread widely online and even garnered comparisons to the iconic moment in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989 where a man stood before a number of Chinese tanks, stopping them in their tracks.

“Ukrainian rushes under enemy equipment so that the occupiers do not pass,” HB tweeted alongside the video.
Freelance journalist Henry Langston was one social commentator who made the comparison to the terrifying Tiananmen Square moment that has since gone down in history.
“Amazingly brave Ukrainian tries to stop a Russian military convoy by blocking the vehicles with his body just like the ‘Tank Man’ in Tiananmen Square,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, others have replied to the video, offering their own thoughts on the man’s apparent dedication to protecting his country.
“Man tries to block Russian advance. What bravery!” said one.
“War is hell, but in it there are also moments that show humanity at our best” said another.
A third tweeted: “This is called bravery and how much he is concerned about the nation.”
This footage comes shortly after a Ukrainian woman shared images of two babies that were born in Kyiv’s underground metro station while Russian bombs fell overhead and fighting raged.
Meanwhile, in an astonishing display, an image that has since gone viral reportedly shows an 80-year-old man queuing up to enlist in the Ukrainian army and fight for his country.
