The incident occurred on 16 December
Wayne Rooney’s mugshot has been released following his arrest for ‘public intoxication and swearing’ last month.
The former England captain – who moved to the USA to play for Major League Soccer’s D.C. last year – was detained by the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority at Dulles International Airport after spending a number of days in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He was then released by authorities on the promise he would attend a future court date following his arrest. He later paid a $25 fine and $91 costs on 4 January, according to the records.

A spokesman for Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Rooney was taken into custody “on a charge of public intoxication stemming from an arrest by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police”.
The spokesman added: “He was later released on a personal recognizance bond.”
Along with court documents, his mugshot has now been released following news of his arrest first being reported on Sunday.
The incident comes after Rooney was convicted of drink-driving in the UK in September 2017 when he was caught driving a Volkswagen Beetle while nearly three times the legal limit. He was banned from driving for two years and ordered to perform 100 hours of unpaid community service following that incident, a sentence he was 15-months into at the time of his arrest.
Rooney signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the MLS side in June 2018, lifting the team from the bottom of their division to the first round of the play-offs in his first season.
