Deputy leader of the Greens in Australia Adam Bandt has been accused of ‘objectifying’ his wife
Australian politician Adam Bandt is being attacked by his own followers for referring to his wife as “hot.”
The deputy leader of the Greens in Australia posted on Facebook a picture of he and his wife at the opening night of ‘Dark Emu,’ a dance adaptation of Bruce Pascoe’s award-winning book of the same name by Bangarra Dance Theatre, at the Arts Centre in Melbourne.
It was captioned: “With hot wife at Bangarra’s opening night of ‘Dark Emu.’”

This remark provoked condemnation from some of Bandt’s followers. Katred Stave commented: “Poor judgement. Women in the public eye are sexually objectified enough and you are alienating your progressive support base by contributing to that.
“Be more measured in your social media posts. This is not a public statement, it is a private one. Have a firm word with your social media advisor or hire one if you are in danger of misjudged Trumpish outbursts like this.”
The progressive politician sits on the left of Australian politics but his wife Claudia had to wade in and defend him from his own followers, writing: “It’s ok everyone, I’m completely fine with this post! It was just a reference to how hot we are for each other even after 11 years together.”
