Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un signed a peace accord on Friday.
Donald Trump has been tipped for the Nobel Peace Prize by the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, after his role in talks between the two Korean nations last week.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un made history when he stepped across the border to meet Moon Jae-in, becoming the first leader to cross the Military Demarcation Line since the end of the Korean War in 1953, 65 years ago.
Jong-un has also announced that North Korea will stop testing nuclear weapons and according to the South Korean President, Trump deserves “big credit”.
Moon Jae-in said he was “confident a new era of peace will unfold on the Korean peninsula” following a historic summit at which both men pledged to end the 68 year-long conflict and work towards “complete denuclearisation”.
“President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace,” announced the South Korean leader during a cabinet meeting on Monday.
He is due to meet Trump in person at another summit in late May. He might have a different opinion then.
